There was a strong and gusty wind from the west for Commodore's Cup. Whitecaps all over the lake. We set a triangle course, but the wind rearranged the marks and the committee boat for the morning race by causing the anchors to drag. We broke for lunch, reinforced the anchors, sacrificed one anchor and chain to the lake gods, and the course stayed in place for two more high wind races in the afternoon. The reaches were fast, the beats tricky, and gybing was a challenge. A number of sailors capsized in the gusts, but nothing broke and nobody got hurt, so we felt like we had accomplished something when we finished the third race. But we sacrificed one more anchor to the lake for good measure.
