2015 Poker Derby
There was a nice southerly wind blowing for Sunday's Poker Derby.  A mix of keel boats, dinghies and a cat set out to round as many marks as they could in 90 minutes.  There was lots of reaching, but the marks were far apart, so the trick was to keep the boats moving fast through the water.
When we got back to the club, there was a raucous debate about the relative merits of various poker hands, but this was resolved with a quick google search, and Jean dealt everyone their hands, one at a time.  Brian and Penny won half the pot, and the other half went to the club's account.

Commodore's Cup

Lots of boats, including some of our best racers, and fluky Falcon winds made for a great FYC Commodore's Cup Regatta on Saturday August 29th.  After six races, Ken Marshall took gold, Dave Langdon silver, and Roger Redwin bronze.

August 1 & 2 2015

Not often we complain about too much wind, but this weekend there were
crazy winds.  Several boats went out to zip around in the wind and waves.  No racing, but we did determine that the rigging on those boats is good and strong!

July 11 & 12 2015

A perfect weekend for sailing; hot weather and steady wind, or at least as steady as we can expect on Falcon Lake.

The predominantly south wind made both the Ice Cream Cup on Saturday and the Round the Islands race on Sunday into reaching contests in comfortable conditions for both keelboats and dinghies.

Anb ... we have a new club member who shows little fear when he helps himself to our food...
