Aug 26; Poker Derby

Sunday was almost as windy as Saturday, from the West again.  We set a long course with five marks distributed to maximize reaching opportunities and minimize beating.  Seven boats started, a mix of keel boats and dinghies, providing a fine parade of sailboats for a couple of hours to entertain cottagers.

Deb had devised a good way to distribute the poker hands and use the cards earned by rounding the marks.  Jamie won the pot with four of a kind.  He hopes it will cover the cost of his anchor which was sacrificed to the lake gods on Saturday.  We raised over $80 for the club.  We may have to invest that in a new anchor too...

Two new boats came to the club that day.  Al and Cliff launched Al's new boat, got it out sailing, and were very pleased with the way it performed.
Jean went to fetch a Laser that a friend has given him, and had a nice ride sailing it across the lake.
